BIM overlay & deviation check

Check what was built against what was designed. Overlay your BIM model on the point cloud, then let deviation detection flag the elements that are out of tolerance.

8 stepsRuns in your browser
  1. 1

Upload your IFC or GLB model to the survey (see “Upload your first point cloud & BIM”). The model needs to be georeferenced or aligned with the point cloud.

  2. 2

Under BIM Models in the Scene panel, choose Overlay to see the model on top of the scan. Use the opacity control to fade it in and out.

  3. 3

Choose Split to see the scan and the model side by side.

  4. 4

To check one element, select it in the BIM object tree. The point cloud is cropped to that element. (UI may differ)

  5. 5

Start Detect, then pick a tolerance in Tolerance Configuration and click Run Detection. (UI may differ)

    LOD 300
    Medium tolerance, about 20 mm
    LOD 400
    Strict, about 5 mm
    LOD 500
    Field verified, about 1 mm

Elements within tolerance turn green. Elements outside it turn red, with a note on the kind of deviation: shifted, rotated, the wrong size, or missing.

Click a flagged deviation to raise an issue. The element ID, its 3D position and a screenshot are filled in for you.

  • Organization Admins and Supervisors can set tolerances and run detection. Members can open existing results.
