RFI construction: the question needs a place
The request is stuck because nobody can tell which corner of the floor it means.

RFI construction means a request for information raised while the works are open. SpatialSense does not issue the RFI number. It holds the place the question is about: two dated 360 walks, and a pin with an owner. A person still writes the request and sends it. The engineer cannot answer "what do we do at grid C4?" from a sentence alone.
The walk is the attachment
Walk the area. Pin the question on the 360° view. The pin has a place on the floor plan and a date. The RFI in your log points at that pin. When the answer comes back, it sits on the same spot, and the next walk shows what was built after the answer.
What stays in the RFI log
- The RFI number, who asked, and who must answer.
- The question, in the contract’s words.
- The due date and the reply.
SpatialSense does not issue RFI numbers. It holds the place the RFI is about. If the reply changes the work, raise a variation order and keep the same pin. If the work is simply unfinished, it belongs on the punch list or the snagging list, not on the RFI.
Frequently asked questions
What is an RFI in construction?
An RFI, or request for information, asks the designer or the client to clarify the documents. It should say what is unclear, where on the site, and what you need back. The answer belongs in the project record with the question.
What should you attach to an RFI?
The spot the question is about. A 360° walk with a pin shows the condition and the location. A cropped photo often does not.
Does SpatialSense replace an RFI log?
No. Keep the RFI numbering in the system you already use. SpatialSense is the visual attachment: the dated walk and the pin the RFI points at.
Is an RFI the same as a variation?
No. An RFI asks a question. A variation changes the contracted work, often after the answer. Link them. Do not file them as the same item.
